The Galah, measuring about 35 cm (14 in) in length and weighing between 270–350 g (10–12 oz), boasts distinctive features. With a pale silver to grey back and rump, complemented by a pink face, breast, and mobile crest, it stands out in the avian world. Its bone-colored beak and carunculated eye ring add to its unique appearance, along with grey legs. While both sexes exhibit similar physical traits, adult birds can be distinguished by the color of their irises; males sport dark brown (almost black) irises, while females have mid-brown or red irises. Adults flaunt brighter colors compared to juveniles, who display a greyish breast, crown, and crest, along with brown irises and whitish non-carunculated eye rings.
Rose Breasted Cockatoo Lifespan
Galahs, when well-cared for, can live up to 72 years in captivity, showcasing their intelligence through playful engagement. However, in the wild, they face shorter lifespans due to various threats including predators and human activities. These sociable birds form lifelong bonds with their partners, echoing the behavior of other cockatoo species. Rose breasted cockatoo birds for sale
